As the pandemic fractures the cities we study, live in and love, we call alumni to meditate on the ways the pandemic can lead us to respond with and through portals. Covid-19 has opened apertures of experience for interdependence. Likewise, urban humanities practices disrupt the desire for a “return to normality,” not only in terms of Covid-19, but in other areas where our collective existence in cities is threatened, fraying or under-resourced. If “portals” bring movement and vision, translations and exchange, new departures and arrivals, how can we construct them?
